Minecraft

Today we had to use minecraft but we used the free version even though it was old it was fun but i was unable to create the design i wanted because i had a idea but i couldn't do it becuae the old version did not have the requirements i needed.  So i created a house using the techniques of mies van der Rohe and he coined the saying less is more and he used the technique to use the bare structure and that what i did here are some pictures.

TED

1)    What is the TED organization about?
The TED organization is a non-profit organization that wanted to combine three things and their were technology, entertainment, and design.

2)  What is the purpose of their website and how does the functionality of their site support that?
They say thet they passionately believ in the power of ideas to change attitudea lives and ultimately so they are building here a cleringhouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the world’s most inspired thinkers and also a community of curious sould to engae with ideas.

3) As Engineers and Problem Solvers, which topic areas (the choices from the "Show talks related to:" section on the sidebar) are of most interest to us? Justify your answer.
The topis that most interest me on the isde bar are technology design and entertainment because all of these ideas have always facinated me throughout my life and I would like to knowwhat this site shows it as.

4) Based on your previous answer, what are 3 talks (videos) on the site that appear like they would be of most interest to you as an Engineer/Problem Solver? Justify your choices.
Three talk videos that I found are the following
Technology; Lucy Mcrae; how can technology transfom the human body?
Entertainment: Kevin Allocca: Why vidoes go viral
Design: Daniel Schnitzer: Inventing is the easy part

5) Each student will watch a unique video (clear your choice with me... first come, first served!). Watch the video. Embed the video in your blog post and create a bulletized outline of the key issues presented in the talk.
the cockroach beatbox
n  They were demonstrating the way the body sends electrical signals to the brain
n  They used a cockroach leg to do the experiment
n  They used a device called a spikerbox that showed the signals
n  They then used a iphone to send more current and used music and the signaled spiked because of the base.
6) How could you get involved in the field/technology/issue you chose to hear about? What experience/skills/training/education would you need to learn to get involved with this field?
·         I could get involved in this the field/technology/ issue by expanding on my knowledge about that subject and trying to learn more about it and the experience/skills/training/education I would need to learn to get involved with this field by lots of research and I probably know someone who has experience in this field and I could ask them what I need to know.

Egg Drop Challenge

for the past week i have been working with Jack Foley and we create a design with suspensions that had the egg suspended in the middle of our design and our design was very successful until we decided that we wanted to try to make it break and we succeeded in doing so.  We also were able in the proccess of creating our design to ear a total of 27 acheivements which are:
1.       create sketch 1
2.       create sketch 2
3.       create sketch 3
4.       decision matrix
5.       gernate list
6.       ensure material
7.       fit in printer box
8.       hit butcher paper
9.       inside thrid ring
10.   second ring
11.   first ring
12.   hit bullseye
13.   weights less than 500
14.   weighs less than 300
15.   weighs less than 200
16.   took less than ½ second
17.   less than 2 seconds
18.   didn’t break
19.   didn’t break
20.   didn’t break
21.   model on CAD
22.   arithmetic- you can weigh your beginning model of the material s and subtract it from the weight that you want to see how much weight you have left
23.   Geometry you can measeure the angles from you design to make sure that it is up straight and not leaning to one side.
24.   Algrebra- we got an equation from my math teach that is KE=mass*accerleration of gravity * height and this can be used to find the speed of which you design will fall
25.   Math equation from Mrs. Walker KE=mass*accerleration of gravity * height
26.   Design achievment- first egg to break
27.   Achievment name- maybe next year
Here are some pictures from the challenge

because of the way we designed our product the string woul take all of the tension from the fall it this was the result of the fall after the first couple of falls

Khan Accademy

in this video it talks about how acids and bases and the multiple definitions of them and it actually helped me understand the subject becuase we had just learned about this the other day.  And i felt that i didnt quite understand the subject and now that i have watched this video i feel i understand it better.  Now when it comes to the flipping the classroom i don't feel like it will help me becuase when i go to school i can actually focus better becuase if i had to watch the vidoes at home i feel i would be to distracted.

2.1.6 cad

for our class we were assigned 6 images to create in the assignment 2.1.6 cad modeling and i was assigned 1.5.6.8.9.10

CAD modeling software

For our class we had to complete a series of modeling on the inventor program here are all of them.

Conclusion Questions
1. in order to make a wire coat hanger you could make a triangle and then use the fillet tool.
2. the feature to create a 3-D representation of a spindle that was created on a wood lathe would be the hole tool.
3. A 3-D solid model prgram keeps track of the changes that are made to and object by having you save things by sketches so that you are able to undo using the undo button or pressing Crtl+Z
4. if a mistake is made then you can undo it by using the undo button or by pressing Crtl+Z

Glider Challenge

Glider Challenge
1.       For that last couple of week JP and I have been working on a glider for our class engineering design. We have had many problems and things that we have had to overcome. One of the main things that we had to overcome was the fact that me and him had to constantly leave early on blocks day for soccer so we had to make up for lost time.

2.
3.
4.       The way that we tested our glider was we waited for a day with little to no wind and then we went out and tried it out but our wing broke off of our wing support and we had to fix that before the race.
5.       On the day of the competition our plane did not fly very well because we wound the rubber band to tight and it ripped off and caused damage that could not be repaired and we did not win any challenges.  We also did not have a lot of time when it came down to the decorations.
6.       Define a problem: are problem with this project was the fact that we had to keep leaving early for soccer so we then had to find a solution
Select a approach: me and JP’s idea to solve this problem was when we had time in class we would not get distracted and work for the entire period and try not to get distracted at any times to make good use of all the time that is given to us.
Refine the Design: we also used this step a lot of the time because are plane was in constant disrepair because with the test flight we had to repair the wing with tape because it was broken completely off and it was the day before the competition.
